On 21 November we had been the last time in our second home in the Southwest Palatinate. At that time we had all winterized. And as we now on 2 January got there again, because the winter had our village firmly under control.
The driveway to the house was so deep and crusted snow, the snow and ice so hard that there was no regurgitation. Our winter maintenance had thought determined we would come this winter, so early and so only cleared the sidewalk. Well, then, the boss had come in person on Monday and catch up.
For a professional like the gardener Albert roof from Pirmasens not a major problem. Although I have also a snow slide, but what I intended to take in hand, if I pay for a service? And Sunday evening, I had already dug a car length.
Winter Impressions
Here in the village and in our garden this week was the winter of his really good sides. The view from our lunchroom (top) to the outside was just impressed on how they say to let your mind wander. Animal Guest
reveal the tracks in the snow it: our garden is also in the winter alive and well attended.
Most notable this year was the deer on our terrace. That was a first. The raccoon was often there, the mice anyway, but a piece of red deer looking for food had not yet set to jump over our fence.
And our feathered friends are also evident in the winter. Green finches, titmice, goldfinches are in great numbers there, even Green Woodpecker, woodpecker and jay. not curtail
Our method, flowering, fruit and seed heads provide apparently sufficient food even during the cold season. A Garden plated for Father Frost
zero temperatures in the double digits at night plants and shrubs with filigree decoration: hoarfrost.
In the picture above the Tatar dogwood in front of our kitchen window. The following image faded sun hats in one of our perennial borders.
And such sights and views contributed very significantly to do with that we could enjoy a few relaxing days.
And then came the weather. On 5. January was all still covered in snow. It was a wonderful cold and sunny winter day. But at night it began to rain when the temperature rises. And so it seemed then a day later at Epiphany from the late afternoon. The thaw had done its work: the garden was free of snow!
